A fun event for the whole family! UIUCares is hosting this run/walk to benefit the national bone marrow registry and to fund their scholarship funds for Nigerian students here in America and in Nigeria. Come join us as we support 2 great organizations!

Umu Igbo Unite (UIU) is a non-profit 501 (c)(3) US based organization founded in 2004, that consists of over 5,000 professionals and college students (18-45 years old) of Igbo heritage residing in the US. Our membership targets people from and interested in all parts of the South-Eastern Igbo speaking states of Nigeria including: Abia, Anambra, Delta, Ebonyi, Enugu, Imo, Bayelsa, Akwa Ibom, Cross-River and Rivers states.

UIU Cares is the community service arm of UIU and has been in existence since 2015. Over the past 3 years, UIUCares has paid the tuition for 21 children at Bridges Academies in Nigeria, provided 17, $1000 scholarships for International college students here in the U.S and participated in various community outreach program in the convention host cities. These activities include hosting back to school events, recruiting members for the National Bone Marrow Registry and providing haircuts, make up, and personal hygiene products to the homeless community. UIUCares also supports the various community service events done by our 13 local chapters all over the United States.  This year we have set a fundraising goal of $30,000 to help fund our scholarship programs, support the NRMP and to continue to support our local UIUCares projects.

UIUCares is pleased to announce our first 5K Run, a fundraising event on August 3rd, 2019 and will donate a portion of our proceeds to the following:
