Tri Fitness, along with the City of Shoreview, is reviving the wildly popular event named after the lake and county park where the event is hosted, Turtle Lake located in Shoreview.
2016 will have two classes, Classic and Modern. Both classes will share the route of 1 mile swim, 25 mile bike, and a 5 mile run around Turtle Lake.
The Classic class is just that - classic to the inception of the race in 1982. That means nothing aero, no wet suits, technical watches, heart rate monitors or GPS, clip in bike shoes, or any bike newer than 1995 - absolutely NO Carbon bikes. Helmets are still required but no aero ones.
The Classic class is limited to 100 participants and will be sure to keep us laughing for weeks and will surely sell out! Who doesn't have a bike from the 70's, 80's or early 90's sitting in their garage?? Speedos and one piece swim suits are strongly encouraged, however, there are no changing tents in transition.
The Modern class will allow anything aero, wet suits, clip shoes and GPS. So for you younger "kids" this class is sure to be competitive and fast.
Water levels are at an all time high and the lake is beautifully clear. To ensure participant safety and a great race experience, we have rerouted the bike course to a two loop course. We apologize for any confusion or disappointment this may cause. Police Officers will be present at all major intersections and volunteers will be available to direct you through the turns. You will be running on paved trail for the run course. Two water stops will be provided.
Packet Pickup: Packet pickup will take place at our retail location: 1338 Highway 96 East, White Bear Lake. The store is open from 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. You will receive your bib and swim cap. Chips will be handed out on race day.

Friday, August 5th - 10:00am - 8:00pm

Free Parking on race day is available across from the park at Chippewa School. If you are planning on riding your bike in to the park after parking your car, you must have your helmet on and secured. There will be no parking available in the park itself.
Our friends at Penn Cycle will be available near the transition area for any light maintenance issues with your bike including airing of tires. Your bike should be in good working condition.
Please have your bib with you. Volunteers will match your bib to the chip and will mark your left arm and calf with the bib number and your right calf with your age. Please apply Glide, Suit Juice or Sun screen after you have been marked. Chips should be worn on the left ankle.
