About Scoops for Troops

Scoops for Troops is a family friendly event that brings civilians, veterans, and military families together in a shared spirit of patriotism. The festivities include a 5K run, 3K walk, ice cream, food, a silent auction, children’s activities and additional attractions to round out the fun for all ages. Money is raised through the purchase of food, the silent auction, the 5K/3K registration fees, and free-will donations for the Tribute to the Troops Fallen Heroes Children’s Education Fund. Please join us in honor and memory of all who serve.

About the fund

The Tribute to the Troops Fallen Heroes Children’s Education Fund provides financial assistance to the surviving children of our fallen heroes to help defray the cost of post-secondary education. Tribute to the Troops opens and funds a 529 education account in the child’s name in honor of their hero. A full 100% of the amount received or raised for the fund is contributed into 529 accounts or directly to the child if already enrolled in a post-secondary program.

11:15 AM Optional Non-denominational Worship Service

12:00 PM Pre-Race Ceremony

12:30 PM 5K Run Begins

12:40 PM 3K Walk Begins

1:25 PM Free Kids’ Fun Run Begins (Weather Permitting, Registration Not Required)

1:45 PM Awards

‘Scoops for Troops’ Ice Cream Social; including food, children’s activities, and a silent auction will go from 10:00 – 4:00. All funds raised go to ‘Tribute to the Troops’ Fallen Heroes Children’s Education Fund.

Race cancellation and weather policy:
Events may be delayed, shortened or in rare circumstances cancelled, due to inclement weather.  This includes lightning, wind, heat, snow, or the threat of imminent severe weather that may harm or injure participants, staff, set up crew and bystanders. Event time frame includes setup, race and teardown. All possible attempts will be made to contact those involved by email, website and social media.  No refunds or transfers allowed.
